Paccar Inc. truck brands Peterbilt Motors Co. and Kenworth Truck Co. separately announced California customers for their respective medium-duty battery-electric trucks are eligible for a $95,000 voucher from the state to offset the purchase price.

The voucher is available through the California Air Resources Board’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project program.

Peterbilt said its Model 220EV, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,000 pounds, now is eligible. Kenworth’s K270E Class 6 and K370E Class 7 vehicles qualify. Both companies said the trucks are available for order.

To receive a voucher, vehicle purchasers and participating dealers must meet all applicable project requirements identified in the HVIP implementation manual.

HVIP is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of cap-and-trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy and improving public health and the environment, particularly in disadvantaged communities. The opening for new voucher incentive requests is anticipated to begin in early 2021, according to Kenworth. — Transport Topics
